Original Recipes-Culinarty Round-Up Event
I’ve been thinking for quite a while about hosting a round-up on Culinarty and finally decided to give it a go
And here is the theme I have in mind: Original Recipes.
I’m always itching to read&try original recipes. Why recipes we create ourselves? Because I believe they are original, unique and they usually turn out better than cookbook recipes. Concoctions born out of despair when trying to fix something we thought to be ruined, others that come up as a way of playing in the kitchen or just ideas that you put into practice hoping to make your kids or better half eat a bit more of this or a bit more of that…they all bring us great satisfaction when a success!
This is an event that also wants to encourage those of you who for one reason or another have never tried to create a recipe and to prove there’s nothing to be afraid of. Sure their is trial and sure there’s some error but there’s always something you learn and once you “master” the basic principles there’s a whole world out there waiting to be discovered so you’ll have lots of fun.
If you’d like to participate, here are the rules:
- Create a recipe and write a post about it on your blog.
- Include the event logo with a link to this announcement.
- Email me at
between June 12th and July 13th with the following info:
- * Your name/nickname
- * Your blog’s name
- * Your post URL
- * Recipe name
- * A short description of your dish that will appear in the round-up
- * Please attach a 250 pixels wide photo of your dish
- Since I would like this to be as less restrictive as possible you’re welcome to send me as many recipes as you’d like. Also, don’t worry if you want to use your post to participate to other events too, you can still submit it to Original Recipes if you follow the rules.
- I will be posting the round-up a few days after the deadline.
I’m looking forward to receiving your delicious culinary concoctions
Update: Have you heard ? Original Recipes has now become a monthly event. Check out this post for details.

15 June 2008 at 05:15Oh MAN! With dessert recipes it’s hard to come up with something truly (unadaptedly) original! I’ll try to think up something!

16 June 2008 at 19:50Sounds great Lore, I am going to see what the fam can come up with while I am on vacation.
17 June 2008 at 03:19Lore,hi - thanks for dropping by. a lot of middle eastern and indian recipes call for saffron (especially biriyani dishes) the blog world is full of them. Quaker is just a brand name. the oats is the quick cooking variety that you boil to make porridge. but my family hates the gooey texture - but because its so healthy I am always experimenting with it. will be posting more oats recipes in future. I noticed that the texture improves when you lightly roast the oats with a tiny bit ghee/butter. I also add slivered almonds for a crunch. This was our b’fast today.
17 June 2008 at 06:47Sounds like a good idea. I’ll have to remember.
17 June 2008 at 10:02I am definitely in!! most of my recipes are original as I love to experiment with flavors, so this sounds like a perfect event to participate in!:)
