Easy Tasty Desserts - Take 2
Sweet cheese balls are a lifesaver when you don’t have much time or energy to make a sophisticated and complicated dessert. They aren’t just tasty and easy to make, but they’re also considered to be a healthy dessert choice.
If you are extremely weight-conscious, you can remove the sour cream/crème fraîche from the ingredients and sprinkle these cheese balls with just a little bit of icing sugar. They will still be delicious.
And because it’s been quite a rush these days and I still am in a hurry, let me cut right to the chase :).
Ingredients
- 250 g / 8.8 oz farmers’ cheese
- 1 Tbsp cream of wheat
- 1 tsp plain / all-purpose flour
- 15 g vanilla sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 1 medium egg
- 100 g / 3.5 oz berries (fresh or frozen blueberries, cranberries)
- sour cream / crème fraîche (about 2 tsp for each cheese ball)
- icing sugar - for sprinkling
Directions
In a medium bowl mix together farmers cheese, cream of wheat, flour, vanilla sugar, egg and salt. Flour your palms and form the mixture into small balls (about 5-6 cm / 2-2.3 inch diameter), you will get about 9 sweet cheese balls. Then roll them in some flour.
Boil water in a pot and throw the cheese balls in the boiling water. Make sure that the water still boils over medium heat.
Keep them there (over medium heat) for about 8 minutes (they will rise to the surface after a few minutes but don’t get them out just yet, keep them in the water for those 8 minutes), then gently get them out of the water with the help of a slotted spoon.
Once they’re out, top each of them with 2 tsp of sour cream /crème fraîche, sprinkle with sugar and add the berries on top.
Enjoy while still warm!
